This adaptation of author Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel revolves around Noah Calhoun's (James Garner) regular visits to a female patron (Gena Rowlands) of an area nursing home.

Rather than bore her with the inanities of everyday life, Calhoun reads from an old, faded notebook containing the sweeping account of a young couple (Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams) whose love affair was tragically put to a halt after their separation in the midst of World War II. Seven years later, the couple was reunited, and, despite having taken radically different paths, they found themselves unable to resist the call of a second chance.

This is my favorite movie of all time!

Iba ang impact kasi ng story na 'to kahit sad ang tema. You know nowadays, it's easy to get married and then get an annulment or divorce once you're fed up with each other's blahs.

But on this story, it shows how couple should endure the test and challenges to their lives. You know they were only 17 and very much in love. Hindi pa tapos mag-aral si Allie, at hindi naman afford ni Noah na magpatuloy ng pag aaral dahil construction worker lang siya at mahirap.

It's a tale of you and me against my "matapobreng" parents.

They have to break up so they could think about the future. But when Noah tried to send her letters, Allie's mother kept it and never showed it on her. Leaving Allie thinking that Noah forgets about her.

After seven years, they were both okay and moving on, but Allie returned to see him before she could marry her fiancee and in the end, they realized that they still love each other and ther's an unfinished business between them.

I cried on the nursing home scene, because the old lady didn't realize that the old man reading the love story account written on that notebook, was their lovestory.

Sinulat pala iyon ni Allie sa notebook noong na diagnose siya ng dimentia. And she wanted to hang on with the memory of their lovestory, before her sickness snatch it out on her memory bank.

Yung kasing dimentia, nawawala ang pagkatao ng pasyente... Totally naba-blangko ang isip niya sa paglipas ng panahon.

But the oldman Noah believes the power of love over the power of mind.

I cried on the scene where they were dancing over the candle light dinner. Noong nakaalala na si Allie. Tinanong niya si Noah kung gaano katagal bago ulit siya makakalimot kung sino siya. Ang sagot ni Noah, mga five minutes daw siguro makakalimutan niya ulit kung sino siya.

Then Noah watched his beloved wife diminished after five minutes within each others arms and pushed him away and asked who was he...

In the end they died on each others arms.

Oh... everyone wishes for a happy ending like that when they get married one day. Na kahit matanda na kayo, ganoon pa rin ka-passionate ang love niyo sa isa't-isa.

Na sabi ni Noah, nasa pag-aaway ng mag-asawa tumitibay ang love. when u argue, you brought out the best and worst to each other.

Tapos parang sabi rito, ang soulmate mo raw eh yung taong nagiging totoong ikaw pag kasama mo siya...

wee... i remember nung pinanood namen to ng frend ko sa SM bacoor after term exam. paglabas namen ng movie hawz hahha bumili kame ng tissue. lol!

iyak kc kme ng iyak. lol!

chaka nshock din pla kame.. hahah kc inosente pa kme nun.. pag start palng ng movie my carpet scene na.. hahahha sa carpet kc cla ng-ano. ^_^

pinanood ko 'to with my sisters and mom a long time ago sa robinsons. i had no idea what the movie was all about. sabi ng nagbebenta ng ticket sa booth, feel good movie daw. O di sige, feel good movie eh. Yun pala, namatay silang dalawa sa huli (which is okay considering their age) pero inosente pa ako nun kaya sa isip ko, namatay ang mga bida, hindi yun feel good May feel good bang nakakaiyak? haha. but i love it still.

Laarni and I watched the movie just this Saturday. It's a nice movie even though it has a sad ending. Di naman sad ending actually kasi not even death took them apart dahil magkasama pa rin sila.

What is meant to be is really meant to be. They're destined for each other, but they also had to make a choice. Lalo na si Allie. It's nice that she chose to follow her heart. She had options...puwede naman na hindi na siya makipagkita uli since ikakasal na siya.

Dementia is a brain failure. According to pychecentral.com, "Dementia describes a group of symptoms that are caused by changes in brain function. Dementia symptoms may include asking the same questions repeatedly; becoming lost in familiar places; being unable to follow directions; getting disoriented about time, people, and places; and neglecting personal safety, hygiene, and nutrition. People with dementia lose their abilities at different rates."

Nakaka-touch kasi Noah loved Allie so much that he didn't lost hope, didn't give up, and cherish 'yung 5 minutes na naaalala siya ni Allie. That's unconditional love .

as in... may part kasi dun na umalis sandali si Ann and when she came back she asked me what happened... and as I told her what she missed... I was crying... garalgal ang boses ng lola niyo habang explain galore ako sa kanya... grabe Sad

It was really a nice story... sabi nga ni Ann that's unconditional love... hayz!!!

Lahat tayo nangangarap na magkaroon ng true love na gaya no'n... yung tipong aalagaan ka pa rin at nagsimula kayo as "dalawa", then in the end, dalawa pa rin kayo sa katapusan.

Medyo na-touch ako sa una, yung dumalaw mga anak nila... di alam ni Allie na anak pala nila 'yung tatlo.

Actually may sequel pa yan... yung THE WEDDING

Story naman yun nang anak nina Noah at Allie. yung panganay nilang abogado. Pero sa book lang wala pang movie eh... Parang plot yata nun, nasa verge na sila ng paghihiwalay na mag-asawa, then naging bridge yung 30th wedding anniversary nina Noah at Allie para ma renew ang marriage nila. in the end hindi nila pinirmahan ang divorce papers. Nagkabalikan sila

Trivia for The Notebook (2004)

* Ryan Gosling built the kitchen table featured in the movie in preparation for his role as Noah.

* Ryan Gosling was the director's (Nick Cassavetes) first and only choice for the role of Noah.

* In the scene when Allie is in college, her professor says "Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself". This is a quote of Walt Whitman, the poet that wrote the poems Noah was reading to his father on the porch when Allie gives him her painting. The professor wrote "Leaves of Grass" on the board during this scene which is also the title of a book written by Walt Whitman.

* Background music for the original theatrical trailer for this film featured music from 'Rachel Portman (I)''s score for The Cider House Rules (1999).

* Gena Rowlands, who played older Allie in the movie, is the director's (Nick Cassavetes) mother.

* 'Ryan Gosling (I)' (Young Noah) wore brown eye contacts because James Garner (Old Noah) has brown eyes, and Gosling has blue.

* The "after 7 years Allie and Noah" scenes were shot first and then the crew/cast went on a Christmas break. I'm glad that Britney didn't made it to this project. I've seen her acting in Crossroads and in my opinion, mas okay na siya as performer on stage. Pero kung si Justin ang opposite role niya rito, may potential siguro na magkaroon ng chemistry. May kilig factor kasi talaga ang tandem nila.

Maganda ang chemistry nina Rachel at Ryan...

Reminds me of my Uncle and Aunt's story. May Alzeimes naman Tita ko pero inalagaan pa rin siya ng Tito ko. Siya nagpapaligo, nagpapakain.
